Caswell Summer Storms, Tourist

Caswell, summer storms, watercolour

The second in my water colour explorations, from the summer storms.

With the tide high, the sandy expanse churns under the wild warm seas, the tourist is still drawn close, the elements magnetic, the seas beautiful power beguiling. I breath in the energy and wonder do they understand the danger, do they invite it, trying to find reality in amongst the technology fed world we have come to inhabit. Trying to feel alive.

This was the time of freedom in amongst the virus contained world, these were the moments we hold onto as the winter now draws in. These times when we danced in the wind, and laughed as the spray swept the suns warmth past us. We were unburdened by the heavy weight of the winter to come.

The heating clicked on for the first time this morning, and I know as the days draw on I will struggle to find daylight to paint. I can turn back to the black and greys of ink, and emotion to survive. We will find our ways of getting through till the spring brings back the colour…..

And so I have the deal I have made with myself, and time…. that I will do one new small watercolour or ink a week, a pause in the busy of my life. An exploration of the coast surrounding me, from the inside out. Watching the way time interacts with the experience……and on the other side of the damp, once the covid has subsided, is an exhibition, where we cam all meet in the same room, and drink wine, and you can share the vision.
