Baglan 1990s Returning Home

This is from a series that of A3 inks I have been playing with over the summer.

For years sketches and photos from around Swansea collected in a draw in my studio….. resting until a future point where I would be able to steal time to reconnect with them.

The time arrived,

Back in the 1990s I worked in Birmingham and drove back each weekend, the journey was tiring, but the lights of Baglan, in the setting sun, or set against the night sky always welcomed, wrapping round me, home was close.

The day before they finally opened the what was then new motorway link, that wound across the new bridge, they opened it for the public to walk along. As the evening sun set, and the lights came on I was finally able to stop and soak in the strange beauty, that up to now had been a passing blur in my left eye.

It has stayed with me, even though the landscape had changed, each time I drive the ghost of what was lingers….here is a glimpse of past. Industry has it’s own beauty.
