They were always long tired drives back to Swansea from Birmingham, the grey motorway dimming to darkness, the miles falling onward. Then the amber glowing skyline appeared and the lights would pull you home. Strangely beautiful, I came to love seeing it.
The day before the M4 extension was due to open into the rush of speeding no mans land….the people of the area were invited to walk its length for charity. For the only time, I was able to stop and stare, soaking in what I had only ever whizzed past……it no longer exists in this form…..gone into development, but the painting hangs on my wall as a reminder that home is where you come to belong.
And it also continues my love of water and reflections……
